About Viner

A fan-made way to explore the original Vine archive.

📘

Overview

Viner is an unofficial, fan-made interface for exploring the original Vine archive — and this site (viner.co) is the public, read-only archive. All of the data you see here ultimately comes from the official Vine archive at vine.co and its preserved archive endpoints, captured before the service was shut down.

New experimental features like accounts and posting live on a separate beta site at beta.viner.co, which is built on top of the same archive data.

🛠️

How the archive was rebuilt

Viner’s archive is powered by two key discoveries: working JSON endpoints at archive.vine.co that still served profile and post metadata, and the original media bucket at vines.s3.amazonaws.com that still hosted the video files, thumbnails, and other assets.

By combining those sources, we were able to reconstruct user profiles, captions, stats, timestamps, and link them directly to playable media — effectively reviving Vine’s backend in read-only form. That’s why Viner can surface over 1.8 million clips, far more than archives that rely only on tweet scraping or small curated sets.

The Beta layer you’re using now sits on top of that restored dataset, letting people create new Viners while keeping the original historical data preserved.

⚠️

Current limitations

The main archive site is intentionally read-only: you can’t log in, post, delete or edit anything here. We want the historical Vine content to stay stable and preserved.

You may occasionally see brand-new clips appear in the archive feed. Those are new Viners uploaded from the beta site while we test the new upload, encoding and delivery systems. We try to keep that testing lightweight so it doesn’t overwhelm the historical material.

💚

Support the project

We want to keep Viner completely free of traditional ads, but storage, bandwidth and compute for both the archive and the beta platform all cost real money. If you’d like to help keep this project alive and growing:

Mobile beta

The Viner Android app is currently in development, and a closed-testing Beta is planned to roll out soon. The mobile app will connect to the same backend as beta.viner.co, supporting account creation, logging in, browsing the archive and posting new Viners.

Once testing is stable, we’ll share more details on how to join from the Viner website and social channels.

Disclaimer

Viner is not affiliated with Twitter, Vine or any of their successors. Some media files, avatars or counts may be missing or broken due to the state of the original backups.

The experimental systems for accounts and posting new Viners live on separate infrastructure (like beta.viner.co) so that the historical archive can remain preserved even as we continue to evolve the modern platform.
